Starting Rushfit

After completing a p90x/Insanity Hybrid, I have decided to start Rushift. For those who do not know, Rushfit is the exercise program developed by MMA champion Georges St. Pierre and his trainer Eric Owens. I have tried two of them so far and it is very good. There is a ten minute warm up, followed by 5, 5 minute rounds with a minute in between. Unlike P90x, there is very little chit chat between the sets and transitions in the round so it is a full on 5 minutes.

It is comparable to P90x according to the American Council on Fitness. There is no cardio workout and you sub in your own cardio routine. I like that flexibility.

I have tried two of the dvd's to get a sense of the moves and exercises. So far I am impressed with the thoughtfulness of the design and the instructional style. My quads were sore after the first day. It focuses on functional fitness (full body).

Don't let the macho bravado of the trailer dissuade you. Georges is actually a good natured guy and, along with this trainer, is very motivating. Plus, he is working and sweating right along with the group. At the end of the workout, he offers his closing words of wisdom.

    My Pensées

The title of this blog is an allusion to the famous work of Blaise Pascal.  This blog represents the variety of my interests and thoughts on any given day and are  strung together, like Pascal's Pensees, in no particular order. I work in the field of mental health,  education, and human rights. I write and am a human rights advocate. I enjoy poetry, jazz, spirituality, politics and a potpourri of other interests that you will see reflected in this blog.
